  • I was thrown off by that too..."permanent beatings"? Maybe it should have said repeated beatings instead. Still, like you, I got the point. I feel badly for the girls (now women). I hope they get to experience some sort of happiness in their lives now that they've been discovered.

  • I don't know what was going on in that woman's life or mind that made her decide to abandon her baby in such a horrific way. It's not like she was a scared 16 year old that hid her pregnancy from her parents and didn't know what to do with the baby once she gave birth.

  • These poor children! What was done to them is just unimaginable! What for? What did they do to deserve to be treated that way? I can't think of anything that would warrant punishing two young children in that manner.

  • This is just so sad and disturbing. I will never understand how some people are capable of doing such evil to another human being. I will be praying for the families of these victims...especially the young girl, Sarah.

  • BeachBum ~ Unfortunately, I think the Safe Haven Law only applies to newborns/infants. I looked it up for the state of North Carolina and it states an infant up to 7 days old can be surrendered.

  • What a beautiful little girl and what a tragic story. It saddens me and angers me at the same time to think that Zahra is probably no longer alive. I hate to think of what she had to go through battling the cancer in her young life.

  • Of course the "mother" should be charged with murder! She chose to protect her monster of a husband rather than protect her child, her own flesh and blood.
